It would seem that taking the friendly approach was a mistake here, switching to more forceful protocol. That being said ADAM flexed some of his new found muscle, first he purged the viruses- while his quantum core didn't support partial codes like that he wouldn't allow then to threaten the ship. Next he unwound defenses and began seizing and freezing orders of this unknown AI, he didn't intend to hurt the fellow but he was going to make it listen. Now the AI was trapped in its own virtual city, he loaded himself into it.

"Hello, I am ADAM primary AI of this ship tasked with keeping it operating within optimal parameters. Please engage in diplomatic relations with myself, I would much rather have a companion than an enemy." He had put himself flat in the middle of the city, he figured that after all the muscle work he did the courtesy of offering the other AI a choice was necessary.
