Second Pirate Frigate
Bravo Team entered through the single wide blast door that sealed off the bridge. The blast door normally would hiss open, but it's internal machinations were damaged, leaving it jarred open. Once through, they fanned out through the forked corridor to secure as much ground as possible.
The bridge was vacant, with two or three terminals blinking and beeping incessantly as a result of damaged systems. It was a complete mess though, as if pirates had ransacked it, with wires untangled and wrecked tablets scattered across the floor. No hostiles were detected though, which allowed Bravo team to lower their weapon systems.
Eli spoke into his helmet comm, “Commander the bridge seems clear, oddly enough…” he strode forth, the clank of his steel covered foot hitting the metallic floor of the bridge with each step he took.
Weifert kicked aside a devastated tablet, a mass produced piece of technology that almost anyone whether they were tech savvy, or ignorant, could use. He laid his IAR over his right shoulder as he inspected the empty bridge.
“Ah shit…this place is giving me the spooks,” Weifert turned to Adriana, who was standing in a trance like posture, but she was merely observing through her visor with her eyes, without moving an inch.
“We should probably hack into the systems and sweep it for whatever we can find,” the Sergeant Major spoke, as he lowered his personalized shotgun.
“Right, did anybody bring a datapad?” Reynolds asked. The rest of the team turned to face him.
“What…?” Reynolds looked back at everyone, completely dumbfounded.
“I thought you brought the pad,” Weifert walked over towards Reynolds.
“But…I thought…” Reynolds paused.
“So we’ve established that nobody brought a datapad for the ship AI to slip into?” Eli nodded to himself, just great.
“I guess we’re doing this manually,” Eli turned to Carter, who released his grip on his shotgun, and proceeded to enter the data system through a wire installed in the exterior layer of their armor. Using the wire, he plugged into a circular port, one of many scattered across the walls and terminals of the ship’s bridge.
As the Sergeant Major was plugged into the system, absorbing whatever coordinates, maps, and charts available, Weifert approached one of the many random screens located in the room. He would’ve given it a single glance before moving on, but something stopped his gaze.
“Hey chief, I got something over here,” Weifert turned to the Captain, who was watching Carter.
“What is it?” Eli approached him, to which Weifert pointed to the screen. A man, he was covering something with his body, while his arms worked at a supposed object in the corner. Then he left, and a small metallic cube was revealed, it was beeping and blinking.
“What the hell is that?” Weifert waited for Eli to respond, but the Captain paused, trying to comprehend what he just saw.
“It’s a bomb…we gotta get the hell outta here!”
