Barracks

“Yes that’s correct; you should clear the area immediately. My analysts tell me that the device is expected to be near their drive core. The explosion would trigger a reaction from the core, and the blast would be larger than an ordinary device,” Atomsk had just relayed to the Altamus vessels to pull away from the frigates.

Alright understood Salient, we’re clearing the area. Summerwind out.

Atomsk then turned to the rest of the Marines, who were watching the situation unfurl in the war room. He was quick to send them out with orders; they were better off patrolling than idling.

“Alright I want you to cover this area,” Atomsk pointed a holographic overlay of the Salient’s interior being projected in the command center of the barracks.

He began directing different teams to cover different sections of the ship, preparing for any threat in any form to the ship. First and foremost though, he was intent on capturing the infiltrator before he or she sabotaged anything vital to the Salient. He pulled out a cigarette, it helped calm the nerves.

Bridge

The Admiral arrived at the bridge to find seven or eight crew members still attending to their duties, it wasn’t much, but Aronimus had worked with worse. JG Napier was in his seat, surprised to see the Admiral pace into the room so quickly.

He stood up immediately and saluted him, as did Petty Officer Hansen, “Admiral.”

“Hold the formalities, gentlemen,” the Admiral assumed his seat at his desk in bridge, elevated so he could oversee the activities of the bridge crew.

“Aye, Sir what brings yeh here at this time?” Hansen swiveled around in his seat.

“Put the ship on red alert, it has come to my attention that we may have a saboteur on board,” Hansen’s eyes widened as Napier grimaced at the news.

However, before they went to work, a thought crossed the Admiral’s mind. The infiltrator had ordered the hostile fleet to attack as the party commenced. If he alerted everyone on board, the pirates would realize that the Salient wouldn’t be caught by surprise.

“That’s not the least of our problems; a contingency of pirate ships will be striking our position whilst the majority of our crew are getting wasted in some corner of the ship,” the bridge crew, what few of them were present, were aghast. Napier, Hansen, and the others stood, frozen in their stance.

“Man your stations gentlemen. The battle isn’t over yet…” and with that rallying call, the crewmen went to their seats and monitors, preparing for the engagement.
