So…it was planned then, it was a simple maneuver, perhaps by one of the greatest minds produced by the Federation, Atreus Eturrer. The empty frigate didn’t come as a surprise to Aronimus, who realized it was all a ploy from the very start. It began with the onset of the pirate frigates chasing the two Altamus vessels directly in the way of the Salient’s projected course.

“Captain, I don’t know if you’re aware, but the Commander has been trying to reach you for the past half hour and a half. I don’t know whether or not your channels were jammed, but I’ll bring you up to speed on the situation outside…” Aronimus paused.

“A fleet of hostile pirates have formed directly several hundred kilometers away from the frigate you are on. You can guess where I’m getting at” Aronimus knew the Captain would catch on very quickly and would realize that the two lifeless hulks were part of the nefarious scheme.

“You should hold off on returning back to the Salient. Your transport may receive direct fire from the hostile ships. Hunker down in the ship, and sit tight gentlemen.” Aronimus was about to close the channel until after the battle was over; if he was alive to turn it back on though, but he stopped.

“Captain, I must inquire if you brought any sort of datapad with you, because if you did, I need you to activate it now,” Aronimus turned to T.A.U. as he appeared in mellow simmering flames.

“Tau, I need you to manage the Salient’s weapon systems,” as he said this he pressed some more keys on the haptic interface appearing over his left shoulder, activating A.D.A.M.’s presence.

The miniature sapphire hologram, bearing the likeness of an android, came into being on the ringed projector. Most A.I.s usually acquired the physical aspects of a brain that they were molded from as a result of Cognitive Impression. The A.I.s assumed the personality and the characteristics of deceased beings, from which brains are taken. T.A.U. for one was generated from the brain of a long deceased A.I. theory professor. They programmed him, however, with advanced militaristic routines that altered his purpose from a simple ship A.I. to a specialized field tactician A.I.

A.D.A.M. was different in that he was generated without relying on Cognitive Impression methods, but rather through a complex matrix of sub routines. Being the first A.I. contrived through this method, they attached the A.I. to the Salient as a means of testing its performance. If A.D.A.M. successfully completed his duties, it may mean a breakthrough for the matrix method, but only time would tell.

“Adam, I need you to speak with the unidentified A.I. He has a plan to infiltrate the hostile pirate ships via their transmission channels; do you think this is possible?”
