Victoria squinted at the bright light shining right at her face. She took in her surroundings once her eyes had finally adjusted to the lighting. For a moment, she had no idea where she was before she realised she was in the library. Then she realised what was going on. She had broke in the previous night just to get her hands on some private records in the restricted section. Somehow, she had fallen asleep and now...
"Oh shit. What time is it?" She exclaimed, rushing to her feet as she looked at the time on the watch. 6.45 a.m. That gave her fifteen minutes to return everything to its rightful place and get out of there before the librarian catches her in her act. She scrambled to photocopy the pages she wanted before replacing the files onto the shelves, turned off the lamp and got out of there just before the librarian arrived.
She breathed a sigh of relief and headed in the direction of the cafe opposite the library. She sat down at a booth and ordered pancakes and coffee. She was going to need a lot of caffeine after all that reading last night. It was not often that she does so much reading, let alone staying up to read law records. Yet, it was vital to her father's latest case. Well, since her father was unable to get the records, this was the least she could do. She just could not stand seeing her father suffer both mentally and physically as a result of his toughest case yet.
After breakfast, Vicki returned back to her apartment and faxed the copies of the files over to her father, hoping that they would be of use. She then took a shower and changed into a comfortable t-shirt and shorts before collapsing on the bed. Before she could sleep, her phone vibrated. It was a text from Maxwell. "Hey guys tonight i'm having a small little get together and anyone can come just as long as your cute," Vicki read out loud. "Awesome, now I just need to get some sleep," She muttered to herself before drifting off to sleep.
