Serafim glided into the living room where four of her closest friends waited for the movie to start. In one hand, she balanced a tray of snacks, English Tea Cakes that she had made earlier that day. In the other she held up a dvd, waving it around for the girls to see.
"Before I put this in-" she began in a dreamy voice, "can anyone tell me who chose the horror movie over the comedy at the video store? I don't remember there being a vote." She smiled all the same, setting the tray down on the coffee table in front of them all and kneeling down on the floor in front of the TV. "Help yourself, but leave some for me."
She dug her nails into the plastic on the new dvd, and pulled it off before opening the case and pulling it out. The picture on it revealed a young girl with a butchers knife, covered in blood. She smiled quaintly as she looked at it, "how funny, this doesn't look realistic, and the blood is obviously fake." Sera inserted the movie and turned on the TV. For a second all there was on the screen was static, but then it seemed to short out and the screen glowed white. She cocked her head to the side, looked back at the girls, and then returned her attention to the screen again. "Queer, do you suppose I broke it?" She asked, leaning in and looking behind the old thing at the wires. "Perhaps a mouse chewed through a wire? Hmm... but it was working fine earlier, maybe it's part of the movie?" She stood up and turned to her friends, reaching down and grabbing one of the treats, nibbling on the edge before asking, "maybe one of you should look at it, I'm not really good with these things."
