Ashling glanced down at the flowers that had been put into her possession. She had wanted something very specific for her brother and while she was grateful for the gesture, she wasn’t leaving without what she came for. Of course, she could very easily go to the other story.
“Listen, thank you for the flowers, but I don’t take charity for whatever reason. My brother is dead. I don’t want handouts because of it. So please, I came for rose. Six red, six white.” She hoped she wasn’t being overly pushy or even mean. The woman really did appear to be having a bad day.
That wasn’t her problem. What her problem was that everyone babied her and treated her like a breakable doll after Liam had died. She wasn’t something to be put on a shelf. For some random stranger to do the same thing, while unknowingly, it hurt. It was a hurt she didn’t want to live with. So she couldn’t take the free flowers.
