Josh got through his first lesson and by the time the bell rang, he plopped down into the seat at his desk. "Great first day, guys, see ya tomorrow." He called out after his students. He had thought his first day went well... he hoped the students liked him. He wanted to be seen as the "cool" teacher. Though he was pleased with the first day, one thing still bothered him. Who was the familiar girl and where did he know her from? As the other students left, she stayed behind. She came up to his desk and asked him about tutoring.
"Tutoring? Yeah, I do," He said as he flashed a smile. You could just pick two days during the week that work for you, and we'll have a session on those days every week from 2:45 until 3:45," he explained. Her name was on the tip of his tongue, he knew that he had met her before. And just as he was about to ask her name, it came to him. "Brielle," the word escaped like a whispered secret. Every memory came flooding back to him. The brief, but wonderful, time he had spent with this girl who he had really felt a connection with, who was back, standing before him, and who was...his student. His eyes widened, but he quickly composed himself and cleared his throat. Now things were awkward, he had whispered her name, what was he supposed to do next, should he acknowledge that he knew her, ask if she remembered him, pretend he had no idea who she was--Josh was panicking, completely panicking! He took a breath, and recovered smoothly. "That's your name, right? It's Brielle? I thought I'd remembered it correctly from taking attendance...I'm pretty good at memorizing," he said, as he flashed her another smile.
