[font=Book Antiqua]Gwendolyn was on the edge of her seat, nails digging into the plush coverings of her wooden chair, Hadrian and Henry in a joust! Seven hells! What was he thinking? Naturally she would support her brother over Henry, he was her husband yet, however a part of her still worried for him, she was just relieved James wouldn't be taking part, even if he wasn't. As their lances lowered, Gwen's breath hitched in her throat, she grasped Rivera's hand , she felt sick to her stomach at the prospect that Hadrian may get hurt; even though the youngest, since their mother had died many winters ago she had taken over that role and so whenever one of her idiotic brother would put them selves at risk, she felt as if she would have a heart attack at the suspense.
The blonde princess was vaguely aware of the sound of hooves pounding against sand, she shut her eyes at that moment, only opening them when a clash of metal and cheering filled the air, a wave of relief washed over her upon seeing Hadrian still atop of his horse, relishing in his glory. A smile graced her lips and her grip lessened on Rivera's hand "thank The Lord" she beamed proudly. Her blue orbs quickly travelled to Henry, just making sure there was no major damage, he seemed fine; Hadrian helped him up and she could only pray that he wouldn't gloat, Henry certainly wouldn't take that well.
As the announcer called for Rivera to enter the arena, Gwen smiled at her best friend "go easy on him Vera" she chuckled, genuinely not being able to call who would take this round. In waiting for the round to begin, the princess took a goblet of wine, sipping it greedily as she watched the court jester with some amusement as he entertained the crowed. The people in the stalls seemed to love him, their laughter almost deafening, still it was good to see the common folk enjoying themselves, with all their hardship the least they could do was provide them with a few hours of entertainment on a regular basis. "Hear thee, Hear thee...the next joust is between Ser Rivera and Prince Hadrian DeGrey " the crowds cheered as two of the courts favourites readied themselves for the joust.
It happened In a flash, one moment Rivera sat tall, relishing in the cheers, the next she lay slumped on the ground, she watched as Theodin raced towards her friend, Gwen going pale by the second, her eyes wide with fear, hushed whispers filled the crowd, Not being able to contain herself Gwen left her seat, leaning over the wooden barrier in hopes of getting a better look, only them did she realise the severity of the situation, a hand flying to her mouth, she gathered her skirts and raced from the royal viewing box to where her best friend lay, dropping to her knees, she gently placed Vera's head on her lap, noting how pale and clammy her skin was and how blue her lips were "Theo, what's happened to her?" Her voice croaked, turning her glassy eyes towards the man.[font]
