Star Light followed Novell a few paces then stopped. She sniffed the air, sniffed again. She couldn't smell Death or Shadow anymore. Oh no! She thought realising the wind had changed. She opened her eyes wide and flicked her ears to indicate to Nouvell they should move away. SHe heard Death growl, and as quickly and silently as she could slunk back the way they had come, listening to see if they were being pursued.

Shadow whimpered in his sleep and awoke with a start. Seeing Death looking into the trees he scrambled up, "What is it?" he hissed, keeping his voice just audible.
