Azalea followed the other two and noted the amount of autumn leaves on the forest floor. She stopped for a moment as they came to a small clearing, she spotted an old badger warren just peeking out from under an old maple tree just outside the circle of trees where the others were intent on hiding. She rolled in a dark patch of mud and then dived into the warren, a breath of wind conveniently pushing leaf litter up and into the mouth of the warren, hiding it from view. She laid down in the cramped space and waited, not long to go now. But as she started to feel confident that she was not going to be tagged....she heard the familiar sounds of a badger returning through its tunnels.
Sh-Shaun...badger...and I'm practically in its living room! She thought to him hurriedly, fear making her flatten herself as much as possible. Badgers could kill an unwary wolf, and she had been silly enough to not check how old the scents were...but there just hadn't been enough time.
