(OOC: I apologize that this post is mostly my random ramblings on Exburnan culture, I got, erm, carried away.)
"Give me a second to patch up Minn, okay?" the Doctor requested. "Granted," Rokunam responded and gazed around the room. Ah, medical technology. Back before then, Exburnans drank poisonous substances to force themselves to vomit their sicknesses away. It's a technique still commonly preformed among his kind, as many Exburnan mammals are used to spitting up, some even use the technique for hunting. Some other humanoid species try it, but Exburnans are more sensitive to poisons, so other species bodies may not detect it as fast and they end up ingesting it. How unfortunant. And as for infections or injuries? Well, it can be easily said that Exburnans are used to dying. In fact, dying was a part of life, not in the sense that it happened as commonly as one ate, but more of in the sense as one went shopping. Of course, that's changed somewhat, but you could imagine what the birth rate must had been like.
Still, medical science did not stray too far from biology, something studied hard and well on Exburna. As many planets are credited with bringing their technologies into what is now known as the technology of the universe, (Humans with energy production, Genkshi with space manipulation, etc.) the Exburnans studied the art of Biological Fabrication. From weapons to ovens to 'android' fabrications, Exburnans exparimented with making them all. They could fabricate extinct creatures, creatures fused between living and mechanical matter, creatures used as weaponry, that can generate and shoot spikes, electricity, high-tempurature flames, fabricated homing 'wasps', acid, and with today's technology, bullets, ions, gluons, nuclear power, dark matter, pulse weaponry, explosives, and even portals. Of course, as not to confuse fabrications to real animals, they are deemed as "souless" creatures, and are forbidden to be granted common sense or free thought, and another restriction that the Intergalactic Council had decided on for ethical reasons, forbidded the creation of humanoid species that highly resembled an existing kind. This law challenged a lot of "android" fabrications, such as Grunts and Gargantuas, having human structure, Exburnan physiology, but resembled lizards and had many upgrades. So, the council decided all humanoid creations must share the Exburnan/Sozard physiology, and must obey the rule of not having common sense or free thought.
But Rokunam wasn't even that smart, he wasn't a scientist, he wasn't a doctor, he wasn't even a full time employee! (Untill he started serving on the ship of course.) Rokunam wondered why people thought of him that way, just by speaking to him. Was it something he said?
"As you were saying?" the Doctor had asked the Exburnan. Rokunam turned his head to the Doctor. "Ah yes," Rokunam answered, and began to explain, his fingers fumbling with each other, "One of the new recruits, Miss Caroline-Marie Shirokuromahotsukai, or as she often refers to herself as, 'Maria', well, I am concerned she may effect our entire crew. She is a Genkshi, so naturally, the Doctor may have to tend to her at some point. She is constantly ingesting alchohal and vitamin C, far beyond any of our capabilities, and her behaviour is rather, how is the way to describe, different. Alien, if the Human wills. She is overly naiive and reckless, and is highly ignorant as well. Though, I personally see her in negative light. And also, a more concerning issue, is that she is highly ill, with a non-lethal disease the Doctor would be able to recognize."
"I know nothing of social manners, but I am to hope that someone is to look after her and manage her behaviour. I personally do not want such a scarred past in my sight, however, I hope a more social Human, may understand." Rokunam looked toward the ground off to the side. "That is all," he concluded.
