They had to go outside to get to the stables. The hand he kept in his pocket stayed warm; the fingers around her arm and his nose went painfully numb. He ignored both extremities.
When they got inside, Theo would have scraped a knee and shin if he didn't have pants on getting over the little wall. He squatted (wary of dog poop or piss puddles) with his back against the wall and looked at the litter. They got very excited when Anna came in, whole rear-ends shaking as their tails wagged, falling-forward as their top-heavy bodies rushed over.
Theo let go of Anna to pet/stop a dog that was coming towards him. Caught off-guard, one trying to get in his lap knocked him off his legs, and he went from squatting to sitting. His legs were buried in seconds. "They're like Saifu." He looked at Anna and realized she might not know what that was. "Japanese bull-ant." His numb forefinger was suddenly the teething toy of a puppy. He couldn't feel it; neither could he feel the dog that jumped on his chest and bit the end of his nose. He thought it was being licked, or otherwise being shone affection, and thus didn't react. It barely broke the skin and didn't draw much blood. "Uh, c-can you get off please?"
