Adelina swept in through the hallway slowly, allowing the others to pass her out. She examined every door briefly before having to catch up with the others. At home, they would have been the height of fashion, just because they oozed with wealth. She let a hand run over the walls as she walked past, feeling their texture. As she neared the last door, she felt ambivalent. She wanted to enter, to see the wondrous Goddess again. But the doors at the end of the hallway had captured her imagination, and she felt she could stare at them for however long she would stay here. Every detail was lifelike, but too beautiful to be from earth. The door seemed to entrance Jamie, for he touched a carving of one animal, looking at it almost reverently. The door suddenly opened, and he drew back to her side. But as the others filed into the room, he followed. She stopped and placed both her hands on the door, forgetting completely how rude and ignorant she seemed. It was like the door was alive and had enchanted her too. Her fingers traced a carving of a tiger, over and over again. She was fascinated by it, and she felt a yearning to understand it, as it the carving had something to tell her but could only convey it in a language she didn't speak, let alone hear.

"Please do take a seat."

Adelina pulled her fingers back from the door. How rude she was. She had quite forgotten herself. Imagine, making a Goddess wait so she could admire some art? She picked up her skirts and hurried in. The great door behind her swung closed behind her and she had a moment of panic before she caught sight of the Goddess.

"Oh my.." She murmured. How could she even worry so when in the presence of... Her. Her love simply filled the room, making Adelina feel warm inside and out. It clouded her mind, the kind of numbness that didn't worry her, but calmed her. She only wanted to listen to the Goddess, and that would make her happy. She didn't want to think normally ever again - To have to worry, to have to feel pain, to be angry. No, this would be enough, forever. She couldn't remove her eyes off the Goddess's face and she moved, as in a haze, to a seat. She waited for the Goddess to speak, untroubled.

Almost untroubled, perhaps explained it better. The smallest voice at the back of her head was crying out, thrashing against the binds of the happy haze. But it was like an ant protesting against the force of a tsunami. Adelina felt the grain of resistance, but ignored it without a second thought, for it took her mind away from the Goddess, and any thought that wasn't about the Goddess was worthless now.
