Koby had started his afternoon with a shower, a shave and some video games. He was feeling the effects of the hang over all too clearly and regretted like he did every time he did drink. He felt clean for once, and he felt empty. If that's what he'd call it. He had lost his best friend, who didn't even answer his calls that morning. He hated him, he hated Rayna, he hated Rose. Nothing seemed right. He couldn't be bothered going to his classes, feeling all too much like poo. He got up to go grab a sandwich before returning to his game when he heard his phone calling. It was Jake's ring tone. Koby glared at the sound across the room, not knowing whether to dive for it, or ignore it. With a sign, he assumed it'd be best to talk it out. Rolling his eyes he answered the phone to a crying girl, "Hey Koby...It's Rayna. Could you come pick me up? I'm at Jake's house... And... Well I need you..."
"Rayna!" Koby exclaimed, a frown crossing his features quickly before disappearing. "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Koby's voice was sincere and caring, like it had been the night he held her when she broke down. All he heard on the other line were sobs and incoherent speech. "Look, Rayna, calm down. Listen, stand outside, I'll be there in a minute," He hung up quickly before running to grab his car keys and rushing outside to his car.

To his surprise, it was raining, almost storming. He groaned. He hated driving in storms. It unnerved him a little and to think he'd be also picking up a mess of a girl unnerved him more. He drove slower than he usually would, but he'd rather turn up at Jake's door step alive than dead. As he pulled up to the drive way, he saw a figure running towards the almost parked car. Before he had the chance, the girl opened the car door and flung herself to Koby's opened arms. "Shh.." Koby resisted the urge to smirk. This was almost like last time, except, this time, his friend screwed up. "Let me just get us home, I know that he'd be drunk..." Koby sneered. He pulled Rayna out of his arms, not looking at her face, or her eyes. He didn't want to look at her. He didn't want to be there for her again just to be pushed away, but he'd protect her from anything. He pulled back out of the driveway and headed home as the storm rolled on top of them, sending lightning bolts across the sky and lighting up the road.

When they arrived at Koby's home, he parked in the garage and got out quickly to open Rayna's door. She stumbled out of the car, still sobbing but not as heavily as before. She fell into his arms, not in romance, out of comfort. Koby placed his hand on the back of her head, holding her face against his warm chest. His other hand held her waist, stroking her back. They stood still for god knows how long before they finally stood apart.
