As the Voice whispered through her mind, a steady thumping echoed in her ears. It was like a door being splintered. Chains of will and fear rattled from behind it, mixing with the low growl of the Beast Within.
The trench-coated man turned to the waitress and gave her a nod. "My thanks, madam." he said in a dark yet intelligent voice. With a flick of his gloved hand, one of the bottles lifted into the air. A pop erupted from the container as the cork exploded across the room. The glass slid beneath the bottle and the wine poured into it.
