Before long, Katherine found herself at the nearest Starbucks sitting across from Leonora. She had ordered her favorite - a caramel machiatto with extra caramel - and a strawberry scone just because. Taking a sip of her caffeine, Kat started to feel one-hundred percent better.
"I had so much stuff to do this morning," Kat admitted and set her cup down. "I had to run by my internship office and get whatever paperwork I needed to give to the school, I had to check on my aunt, and then attempt to run across town just to miss the class I was trying to get to."
Kat sighed, feet already aching. She literally did have to run; that was definitely not a lie. Still not used to New York, she missed her train twice and then had to walk/run to get over to the campus. Pennsylvania was never this difficult for her. Damn metro system, she thought. Hell, even DC wasn't this tricky to navigate. Luckily for her, no one had noticed her being out of breath.
"How long have you lived in New York?" Kat asked and took a small bite of her scone. Since they were both in the same boat, they might as well get to know each other. Besides, every connection counts and the reporter inside her knew that all too well.
