The woods suddenly became a rather threatening place. Brik wasn't a man that feared much, but Summer's safety was on the line and that made the world seem all the more menacing. He raced through the greenery, dodging branches and managing not to slip on wet leaves. "Summer," he yelled through his raw throat. He may not have a chance at life, but she sure as hell did and he was going to make sure that she made the best of it. Brik followed the sound of her frightened voice shouting for whatever entity to leave her be. The voice grew louder, signalling that he was closer. "I'm here!"
With adrenaline fueling him and his face twisted in worry, Brik reached Summer. He saw her unconscious body on the damp earth. He ran to her side, sliding onto his knees and checking her pulse. She was still alive, to his relief. He hoisted her onto his lap, cradling her head on his knees. "What the hell?" he whispered in concern. His emotionless persona had melted away and all that was left was Brik, the man that loved his friends with every fiber of his being. Despite his buzz, Brik was still able to comprehend the situation at hand. Summer was in trouble and she still had an opportunity to fight death. His mission at the moment was to keep that her breathing and keep her safe. He sighed, smoothing hair out of her youthful face. She was his baby, whether she knew it our not, Summer was like a baby sister in his eyes. With a small grunt, Brik lifted her into his arm, carrying her bridal style through the woods. His chest burned, though he ignored it for her sake. He cradled her head on his broad shoulder and whispered soothing words for both his and her sanity.
"We'll be fine," he muttered, speed walking back to the cave. "I've got you...I'll take care of you. Hold on." He wasn't sure what it was that caused her scream or faint, but whatever it was, Brik was determined to shield her from it. The dim light of the fire came into view and Brik was forever grateful. "Guys!" he shouted, his voice cracking. "We need to get Summer to the hospital. We need help!" The loud music veiled the urgency in his tone, but he tried again as his chest seared and his arms ached, he pushed on until he was in the cave. "We need to help, Summer, now!"
