âOh dear! Oh dear! Can we really let her go again? What if she walks into a strangerâs house like last time? Better yet, what if she walks into a humanâs house?â Two figures stood glaring at one another, neither one of them wanting to back down. Those two individuals were Richard and Abigail Hawthorne. They stared into each otherâs eyes, hoping that the other would cave. What was the topic at hand? Well, it was none other than their daughter Morana. The young girl leaned against her parentâs doorway, waiting for their arguing to end. She knew that they were fussing over her, but she did not care. After all, she wasnâtâŠthat spacey.
The young vampire let out a soft sigh, hoping to turn her parentâs attention to herself. When that failed, she groaned. Why did they have to develop this fear of allowing her out of the house? She knew that she had moments where she would blank out, but didnât everybody? They were over exaggerating anyway.
âCome on Abigail. We canât shelter Morana for the rest of her life. Sheâll be fine. Let her grow upâ Richard said to his disheartened wife. The woman glanced over at Morana, who had taken an interest in the chipped paint on the all.
âWe moved out her to let her grow on her own. With time sheâll realize that not everyone in the world is good and that she could get away with being so inattentive. Letâs let her go.â The parents glanced at their daughter one more time. The young vampire finally looked up at the pair, and gave them a bright smile, showcasing her fangs. The couple glanced once more at the other, before letting a small smile slip.
âCome on Morana. Letâs go.â It didnât take long for the girl to grab her personal belongings from her room and bring it outside the old shake that she called home. She was just so excited that they allowed her to go back to the University of Diversity. This was one of the few places that let vampires be themselves. Well, Morana couldnât say whether or not people were truly free of discrimination, but this was as close at it got. The group each took an item and made their way towards the university. It didnât take long for the group to reach the outskirts of the University. Morana grabbed her standard sized suitcase, a work out bag, and a box full of knickknacks, and stepped away from her family. When she grabbed everything, Morana kissed both of her parents on the cheek and went on her merry way.
âDonât talk to strangers! Please stay out of troubleâ her mom called out to her one last time. Morana nodded, waved, and then walked away. Her mother worried way too much. It only happened once anyway. The young vampire walked through the University gates with a bright smile. If people didnât know any better, they would have thought that she was new to the school. Anyone who returned knew that the school was not the best place to be. Some places in the dorms were newly renovated, while others were worn down and rugged. However, that did not matter to Morana. It was her second home and she was looking forward to coming back.
âIâm backâ she said to no one in particular. The young girl stood near the enormous gates, gazing at the building before making her way inside. Many of the new students seemed engulfed by their surroundings as they made their way through the campus. Morana was no different. She would stare at one item, and then another. It was hard for her to focus on one beautiful thing at a time. Still, she knew if she was paying attention, she would trip over her own two feet.
Surprising, it did not take long for the young vampire to reach the dorm room. The building had aged, but not in a positive way. She stepped inside to find her room. The familiar smell of old wood hit her nose and brought back nostalgic memories. âItâs good to be homeâ.
Morana located her bedroom in a very timely manner, which was truly amazing. Dumping her items onto the hard mattress that would soon become her bed, Morana proceeded to leave her dorm room. There would be time to get unpacked. So, why not explore? With that said and done, Morana went on a little 'journey' around the campus. The first location she stopped at was the school's cafeteria.
The young vampire pecked her head inside the cafeteria, but did not see anything appealing. It was hard being a vampire. Each particular vampire had their own special diet that they followed. For example, as a witch vampire Morana could eat solid foods, but they did not digest most of the time. Instead, she would drink liquids, or liquated foods. Liquid foods did make everything a lot easier. As Morana eased her way out of the door, she was greeted by an unfamiliar face. An unfamiliar human face.
âOh helloâ Morana spoke to the girl. The girl seemed new, and definitely could not tell that she was a vampire. Why would she be talking to her anyway? âMaybe she was just being friendlyâ she thought to herself. The girl towered her by a few inches, and seemed innocent enough.
âWelcome to the school. Are you new? Did you have a question?â she asked.
