Lex was lost in his own world as he walked. The only thing keeping him there was the lack of foot steps behind or beside him. Eden had gone to her own world again, she had that glazed look on her face. Lex looked at her, his eyes searching for something he wasn’t sure of. He knew he would never be that person she needed, in his mind, but he was never going to leave her. There were a lot of women who had been interested in Lex for a great deal of time. Having competed so long in the horse world you get to know people, and the majority of people are the female variety. Lex was sought after, that he was aware of. But after a couple years of girls chasing him they all soon began to realize the dedication he had to Eden.

He remembered the day their relationship had changed. He didn’t know if Eden had forgiven herself for the death of the horse, or if it was something much larger. The two never spoke of that day, and he always left it alone. But now as he looked at her, he saw something change in her face. She was still the beautiful woman he had always seen her to be, but a change he didn’t yet recognize took place, leaving him questioning their relationship. But it was then that she spoke, her demeanor changing again. He heard only the last part of her statement, but was able to figure it out from prior information. He gave her a gentle nod, his brow furrowed as he tried to figure out the change he had seen in her. “I’ll be fine, and down in the back pasture rekindling my relationship with that fence down there,” He offered as joke, a sly smile playing across his face. But with only half dedication, his mind elsewhere.
