Derek inhaled, a sort of physical anticipation tightening his muscles, and let out a slow breath of apprehension as he jogged closer to the vibrant red headed woman on the street. Did she just wink at me? Yep. She did. Huh. Derek was used to attention from the opposite sex, Hell, he sometimes got attention from his own sex, but he usually just let it roll off. However it had been quite a while since he had...gotten any. Might be nice, just one night. He shook his head. Derek wasn't the kind of man that really went for one night stands or short flings...but still...he was a man after all. He flashed a brilliant white smile at the seductive woman as he slowed his pace just a bit so's not to pass her too quickly.

That was when it hit him. Derek smelled something sickly sweet, and the acrid tint of death was teasing his keen wolf senses. Vampire. Did she know he was a wolf? Was she trying to lure him to his death? Did she have a death wish? Or was she just a totally oblivious fledgling, unaware of the different scents the supernatural carried? Derek surpressed a growl, and attempted to keep his face relatively neutral. One thing this wolf didn't posess was an admirable well of self-control from which he could draw succor, so even an act as simple as jogging past was a feat for him. Derek knew Bellingstone was supposed to be a safe haven for all supernatural, and killing a vampire for simply existing might ignite a war that he wasn't prepared to fight for.

He had now made it to her side, his eyebrows were lowered and drawn together, jaw clentched and muscles taunt and ridgid, coiled in preparation for a possible on coming attack even if it was daylight in the middle of a bustling town.
