Castle Vankoryth was not just home to bloodless flesh. It was home to stone, to ancient magics and scriptures that bound material together to create new, living golems. Those golems were gargoyles, who lined some hallways, who perched atop the castle walls and besides balconies; who watched everything and everyone.
And some of them... Were alive.
And so, when the attacking strike-team began to cause a commotion, the stone-monsters woke and descended upon the invaders in a glorious, yet horrific spectacle of tearing meat from bone and ending the lives of undead. They could not have expected them, they could not have been prepared and they could simply not defend against the overwhelming power that the stone had to offer.
They stole much of the glory that morning, and when the attack ended almost as soon as it had begun, the Gargoyles returned to their posts and ceased moving. Someone would have to clean them, though.

You have officially entered the castle. The ceilings are high, and grand mahogany doors grace every wall, leading to other presumable grand rooms. Gargoyles silently scream down on all who enter, daring them to vandalize the place, and a wide spiraling stair case goes both up and down. Large tapestries inlaid with gold hang from the farthest walls, and large vases housing dead roses sit in each corner.
