Kaiko Ishigawa

Kaiko glanced back at the red headed boy sitting behind Aya all the while playfully clicking her tongue at that annoying something-you-should-know-but-won't-come-out feeling. She shrugged off the familiar ache, deciding it wasn't worth dwelling on and would come to her some time. She cracked a small smirk at the fellow red head's hard headedness about being made into the male class representative. The banter between the student and teacher was amusing, if not downright disrespectful. Once that was all settled and done with, after the red head tried to practically chuck his friend into the gutters-but failed, the teacher went straight into an interesting lecture.

The better half of the day went by rather slowly for the red head, but she couldn't necessarily argue considering that it was all a blur to her. With another ring of the bell, she just happened to snap out of it when students started to leave their desks. She lazily took out her own bento box, carefully unwrapped it from its silky handkerchief wrapping. Not even processing what she was putting into her mouth, though had enough sense to at least make sure it was food, she lifted her chopsticks into her mouth, chewed whatever she was eating, swallow, then repeat. She didn't exactly know why she was acting so automated, but she could guess that it had something to do with it being the first day of school. She knew somewhere deep inside her though that it was always like this. Last year, when all she had to depend on was her guts, intelligence, and some help with her natural smart-whipped vocabulary, she felt stuck; as if forever in a rut that she dug out herself. She glanced over at her newly acquainted friend who was almost acting like a vacuum and sucking in the food faster than she can keep track. Subconsciously, a smile formed on her face as she watched the auburn haired girl ravage what used to be her lunch.

An announcement snapped her out of her reverie and her smile formed into a smirk. If they were to go to the locker rooms to change, that only meant one thing. Gym. The class was always fun to Kaiko, it was just when she was sure she could possibly lose that she started to slack. Damn inferiority complex. The bell rang not too long afterwards, actually it was pretty quick, just enough for her to put her rewrapped bento back into her bag. People started pouring into the halls and Kaiko barely had enough time to grab her pack before Aya took a hold of her and they weaved through the crowd together.

The red head couldn't help but feel her face flush as the blood rushed to her cheeks. Her violet orbs glanced down at the hand that kept a firm grip around her own. She's never been used to any kind of skin-to-skin contact, heck when her own parents gave her a hug on her birthday, she just stood there, not knowing what to do with her hands at all. Her brothers also gave her occasional hugs, but it usual consisted of them smothering her. It's not like she didn't like it, but after mostly keeping to herself both at school and at home, she always felt rather strange with the concept. The pair burst into the locker room before separating to their own. Kaiko quickly changed into her new gym clothes before leaning on the locker beside her auburn friend's, all the while clipping her hair up. Aya then asked if she was ready to go.

"Yeah, let's go out to the back." Kaiko said, gesturing with a nod to the double doors that led to the back school yard. Once out in the fresh air, Kaiko once again felt as if she were in her element. With a quick stretch and crack of her knuckles, she gave a small challenging smirk to the auburn haired girl. "Wanna race around the track?" She knew it was a risk challenging someone that she didn't know when she had the worst inferiority complex known to herself, but she'd give it her all. While she knew Aya could most likely swim miles around her, the land was her element, being one of the best track runners in her middle school.
