The Warden sits behind his desk, furrowing his brow. These girls could be trouble. Indeed he had orders to begin torture methods to Luci prematurely because she was assumed as weak willed, but Andrea hadn't been exposed to any of it yet. She was much too central to the resistance to risk losing and much to feisty to submit without medicinal assistance. The outburst of the girls had been just in time for the seminar that was meant to refresh the civilians on accepted behaviors. That would have to be postponed until morning, too many people might be having second thoughts already. He was to tread lightly.
But the girls would learn to behave, and because of that they would be sent to Dr. Levits. He had no choice, and frankly he wasn't sure how many more gaurds would be willing to shadow the fiery Andrea Hanover and her rambuxious companion. So the Warden reminded his secretary to call Rachel to include the incident in the cafeteria today in the seminar tomorrow, and brushed off the guilt like dust off his shoulder.
Her muscles gradually regained strength, but Andie remained limp in the mans arms. There was something in the way he held her that made her believe just maybe he cared. Sure, she was fooling herself, but Andie was scared and really all she wanted right now was her daddy to come to the rescue. This hell hole would be the death of her. Turning to face the mans chest, Andie hid her face the whole walk to the infirmary. Although Luci hadn't been able to tell Andie about everything that had happened so far, Andie could tell torture had been involved.
But it was late, and instead of binding up the girls in bed restraints, they were handcuffed to the gurneys that served as their beds. Andie couldn't even bring it within herself to fight. The gaurds assured them someone would be checking in, and already Andie could feel herself drift into sleep. Through the sleep haze, she thought she heard Luci ask if she was okay.
It was a vague question, but Andie sleepily slurred, "Yea, juss wornn ou...." Her sentence trailed off before she could finish the word, barely able to gather the strength to speak. She closed her eyes, her words faltering past her chapped lips. They had made her submit, and that had been the worst thing a Hanover could experience. With all the might she could muster, Andie rotated to face away from Luci with shame and hoped to sleep the pain away.
It wasn't until the next day when the florescent lights cut on that Andie had realized she had even slept. The restless slumber had left her still tiresome. Andie kept her eyes closed and hoped not to be stirred, but a voice over the intercom gave her a clue as to what was about to happen.
"The time is 0700 hours, all civilians within the A-B wing report to auditorium for seminar on behaviors allowed and those that are disallowed. There will be a demonstration of said consequences for such disallowed behavior. Seminar will begin at 0800 hours, and remember to keep your chin up and have an effective day!"
A menacing chuckle of what Andie was sure was the guard who's nose she had broken made a shiver run down her spine. But she remained where she was, huddled in the bed facing the far wall.
