It was very comfortable in the girl’s arms. He knew this even as he slept. Most of all he knew he was safe. Almost as if he could tell what was happening even though his body was unconscious. A strange sixth sense he guessed. It wasn’t something odd to have for someone like him. He continued to sleep as the girl got home and began manoeuvring through it. The light didn’t bother him, and he continued to sleep soundly.
He stirred lightly when the warmth of her body left him, indicating he was placed down. It wasn’t enough however to wake him up. He was much too weak. How he wished he could see who his saviour was. He would surely repay her as best as he could, cat’s promise, which, in his homeland was a very strong thing indeed. It was right up there with a magical contract. Yes, those things existed. Some people were just too blind to see it.
He could feel a slight tinge of pain as his body was touched. However, he didn’t react to it. He knew that the person was helping him though. He lay still as the girl cleaned his wounds and bandaged him up. Slowly the pain began to subside. He knew he needed to put himself fully to sleep in order to heal properly. In fact, his body would heal faster than most cats. Since the pain was gone, he could finally relax and allow his mind to shut off. He welcomed the rest and began to breathe normally.
...
There was no sound from him for the rest of the night. Depending on where the girl had put him when she went to sleep he would wake in the same place. However, at the crack of dawn there was a slight change. As the sun crept into the girl’s window and crossed over the cat’s body, it transformed. The small form got larger. Fur turned into skin. Tan coloured hair appeared upon the head of the creature, and the feline features turned into that of a sleeping boy.
All that remained to show that this boy was the cat from before were the two furry black ears, perched on top of the boy’s head and the black tail that curled around his form as he slept. The bandages that the girl had placed on him the night before adjusted to fit the new form as if they were put on the boy in the first place. He breathed softly as the dawn continued into morning, and would sleep until woken by the girl.
