As soon as the man slipped out the door and Finn had filled his lungs with air once more, he leaped to his feet and lurched towards the door before it had even closed completely, totally ditching the coffee and racing out into the street. Damn! That man was fast, was he on steroids or something? Finn couldn't see him anywhere, and the masked men seemed to having gotten lost in the crowd, but then he listened over the loud roar of multiple voices and heard some alarmed shouts and screams, and he followed the voices until he saw the last man disappear around a corner. Finn sped up into a run, sprinting after the man and trying to keep track of him through the sea of people blocking his way, although most of them jumped out of the way when they saw him approaching at a full-on run. He chased them for a few more blocks before running into someone, sending him sprawled on the road where he had to dodge the feet and legs of people getting hurriedly from place to place. Apologizing multiple times to the person he'd run into, he got to his feet and began his pursuit again, but he could no longer see the men who had kidnapped Chloe. It was as if they disappeared out of thin air, transported themselves in a split second, but that was impossible; not even the most advanced magician could manage to accomplish that feat, not unless they used dark, dark magic that anyone else would refuse to touch, or even think of using. Which made Finn wonder exactly who they were dealing with...he doubted they were that advanced, but he still thought they had the potential to be formidable foes.
Finn wandered the streets some time later, cursing under his breath as he had still not found the men or figured out where they were keeping Chloe hostage, although he had been asking directions from people for what seemed like hours. For the first half hour, he had asked some people if they had seen the masked, cloaked men he described to them, and most of them pointed him in a direction, but there had come a point when he had just about completely lost their trail, and he was tired and frustrated and angry at himself for having let them take her in the first place. He should have been faster, he should have thought of something. But he knew beating himself up about it now wasn't doing him any good, he just had to find her. If he could find the men who took her, he could find her, and then he could figure out a way to get her out of there. Picking up their trail again was the tricky part, and then figuring out how to sneak in wherever they had her without getting caught or captured himself. Eventually, when he could go no further without getting lost or losing their trail completely, he contacted Aldrik with their mind link, for the little lemur was much better at tracking than Finn was, with his keen eyesight and superb sense of smell, along with his ability to be a lookout from above. The little lemur was on his way now, flying to Finn's location; Finn wished he would hurry, he didn't want to think about where Chloe was at this moment or what they were doing to her as he stood around waiting. He had to get moving again, and in the right direction too.
