The God-Queen watched Calor enter with eyes that drank in his every movement. The Dragoon was her most loyal servant and most well known. They two would be considered "friends" if such a term was even possible between a goddess and her subject. There was hardly a rare moment where one was not seen without the other, hidden deep in the shadows.

"My dearest Guardian," Sarene spoke, her voice echoing off the cold walls. "Rise," she commanded. Her fingers stroked the marble beneath them.

"The Magistrates insist that I choose a husband. They droll on and on about this business and I no longer wish to hear of it any longer. They claim it will raise the morale of my people, a wedding. They believe that sacrifices are no longer enough the placate my people. What is your opinion on this manner, my dear Guardian?"

Sarene's eyes never wavered from Calor. She watched him like a statue, staring and unblinking.
