Axel watched her fly off into the sky until the sun burned into his eyes forcing him to look away. “Good bye Ikaros.” He spoke out softly. “Be safe.” With her gone from his eye he let out a breath as though he had been holding it over some time. He has succeeded more or less, but now he still needed to decide what his next course of action was. He had managed to separate himself from her, though he weighed heavier on him than he thought it would have. It hurt her more even so, though that was to be expected, he knew what it was he was trying to accomplish after all. He truly wished things could have been different, he wished that it could have just been the two of them and the demons had never been an issue, but that was not the case. She would be safer without having to watch out for him, without having to feel what he felt, to change.

He turned from the place and started walking back home, his steps felt heavier and they were slower than normal, he didn’t even seem to see the world around him, he had fallen so deep into thought his body was just sort of walking. What was he to do now? Go back to his normal life and just let the whole thing blow over or something a bit more, drastic. He was separate from Ikaros that much was true but she was still changing something that had yet to be solved. His thoughts ran back to the idea of his own death, a solution, not a very good one hell he didn’t even know if it would bring her back to normal or just stop her from getting any worse. His foot stopped walking as he contemplated the idea. Was he really considering something like this? He nodded to himself lightly and kept walking, he would think on it some more back at home.

He returned to his empty apartment that day and walked in. It felt strangely lonely this time, not like it was back before he met Ikaros, it felt even lonelier. He sat down on the bed and looked down to the couch she had slept on that night. “I hope the fox is what she thinks he is.” He thought back to the promise he had made her to protect her from that world of nothing. He smiled lightly at it, the fox was still by her side, that would be enough, and besides that place was where only h truly existed.
