Shein Clovin had rode all night to reach the Palace, where he had waited until dawn.

Knight-errant that he was, he did not dare risk awakening a Magistrate before the sun had crested the majestic spires of the Palace. Dire though his news was, he did not want to bring more wrath upon himself than he was already about to.

The Knights had been made aware of it during the night; he had brought the news to Gabriel first. He had pleaded with his Commander to take the news to the Magistrates himself, but he had more important business to attend than simple message bringing.

Steeling himself, Shein had walked unmounted through the hallowed halls of the Palace to where the Magistrates resided. While few stayed in the Palace proper, Shiabiann, Magistrate over the Pleasure District, did. Shein couldn't suppress a shudder at the thought; the beautiful woman was the most intimidating he had ever met, aside from Sarene.

With a knot in his gut, he knocks hard on the door to her private lodgings. More than likely a servant would answer- or at least, he hoped. He may have a heart attack if it were otherwise.
