At McCart's sign, Veris went straight into command mode. He had been spending the previous time after McCart had first entered the room to go through the rest of his booting up. That was the one downside of his systems were that he took his time to get ready unless sent into emergency booting protocols.
"Message sent, sir." Veris replied when the message went through the ships messaging and alert system without a problem. When Veris was told thank you, he would have to snap out of command mode.
"Message sent to Captain McCoy...

Command mode enabled...

Command not recognized, searching social database...
Appropriate entry found...
Responding...
Response complete..." Ran the logs of Veris.
In response to the social data that Veris had access to, the phrase that McCart had given Veris was a form of thanks. To this, according to the logs, 'You're Welcome' was the optimal response. Add in the military respect protocols, and Veris responded with, "You are welcome, sir."
