Zana Callin

Zana inspected the man, her eyes darting from his canine companion to the weapons he had just drawn out. It seemed that, just like Zana, he favoured twin blades. Zana drew hers out, a pair of beautiful twin daggers that she kept close to her at all times. She assessed her opponent. He was tall, well built and undoubtedly had strength and a longer reach on his side. But Zana was fast and she knew how to work the mountain terrain to her advantage. She also had Neva.

Neva was crouched on all fours, her tail slowly whipping back and forth as the snow leopard watched the man and his dog. Zana thought that the dog would be little danger to the snow leopard. Neva was perfectly capable of taking down prey her size and larger. This dog, who looked half frozen and was disadvantaged by the furs he wore, would be no problem for her Neva.

The only option available to Zana was to fight. Running would only put her at a disadvantage. So, she gave her full attention to the hunter, letting Neva take the dog.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Zana asked the man, slowly crouching into her own ready stance. "You'd better say goodbye to you little dog. Neva doesn't take too kindly to mongrels."
The words were uncharacteristic for Zana, she was usually polite and well-mannered. But she had often found that angering an opponent was a good way of putting them off. If he was angry he was less likely to think first, making him easier to beat.

Neither Zana or Neva gave either dog or man a chance to answer. Neva pounced, her powerful legs catapulting her towards the dog. Neva's claws slashed through the air and her jaws opened.

As for Zana her attack was only a fraction slower. She spun into an attack, slicing the air with her daggers. Maneuvering through the snow was little trouble for Zana, her feet found easy purchase one the surface. With one arm shielding her body from a counterattack Zana thrust the other forward, aiming for the gap in the man's defense. If she hit she would likely tear through both his furs and skin. If she didn't she was always ready to pull back and try again.
