Ae-Jin was released later that evening, security camera footage along with eye-witness accounts all added up, she was clearly acting in defense of the innocent people in and around the area. The whole story then came out, why Lolly was in the hospital etc., it wasn't the club's preferred method of handling things, involving the police, but it worked. Maddy's charges were, two counts of First Degree Attempted Murder, Third Degree Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Possession of an Illegal Weapon. With the two counts of first degree attempted murder she faced a minimum of 10 years, with the other charges together she was facing a minimum of 25 years in prison, if the maximum sentences were handed down, she could end up with two life sentences.

Maddy told them that Jason tried to kill her by dumping her in the abandoned mine. Jason was arrested and taken to the county prison, but was released within a day or so. The prosecution couldn't find enough solid evidence to link Jason to the crime. They had Maddy's testimony, but her mental state made her credibility highly questionable. The police questioned Nicky about the story, Nicky knew if he backed up Maddy's story it could be bad for him. He knew Jason was already suspecting him of working with the Feds, if he turned on Jason now it'd just confirm those suspicions, and he knew he probably wouldn't make it out of Texas alive. Nicky gave them an alibi, and of course it checked out with the other members etc. Nicky also told the police the last time he saw Maddy she was hitch-hiking out of town. Remmy backed up Nicky, he showed the police the message of Maddy telling him she was leaving him. There was no physical evidence to link Jason to the mine, there was no way the prosecutors could put Maddy in a vehicle with Jason, and the prosecutors knew that with Maddy being mentally unstable, and the demonstrated aggression towards Lolly, it'd be a cake-walk for the defense to shoot holes all over Maddy's story. In the end the judge ruled there was no evidence warranting that Jason should remain in custody, the prosecution attempted to make an arugement that sending him back to his gang would hinder the investigation, however the Judge stated he had yet to see a shred of evidence to prove that the Knights had anything to do with the issue at all. The only evidence the prosecutors had was that Maddy had been found tied up in the bottom of the mine, but there was no other evidence after that.

Jason's lawyers requested he be given the permission of the court to leave Texas, with the move coming up. Prosecutors wanted to fight it, but ultimately saw their request shut-down by the ATF and FBI. They saw that the Knights were planning on leaving Texas, and were quite happy to let their Californian counterparts to deal with the Outlaw biker gang.
