âThat would be great, thanks.â Caroline smiled at the deputy as he offered to go find one of the very few officers within Bellingstone, then again with the townâs main inhabitants supernatural beings there was only so much humanâs could do, but she knew that too many people their mere presences was just comforting. As she waited for the deputy to return, she drummed her nails against the desk before her, a habit she had picked up many years ago and something you could quite often catch her doing on a slow day at the bar. Her blue hues darted around the room, taking in the different sights and the different bulletins on the walls, one in particular caught Caroâs attention; it was the missing poster of the family who disappeared last year. Of course she used the term âdisappearedâ lightly, most knew exactly what had happened to them and she suspected the Sheriff knew also, but naturally you couldnât go around telling the truth, she doubted the world would react very well to the knowledge that vampires were not only to blame, but also not so mythical after all. Seeing it honestly made her sad, she could not imagine the pain of the families who had no answer, but it also reaffirmed Carolineâs belief that she was doing the right thing in going against Axelâs orders. âMaâam, the sheriff will see you now.â
Turning quickly on her heel, Carolineâs heart leaped at the suddenness of the manâs voice, he had startled her with his sudden reappearance. Slightly embarrassed, a light blush crept upon her cheeks as she smiled her gratitude, âthank you.â Following along the small corridor, she swallowed the lump in her throat. Honestly she was terrified about how this would go, it wasnât an easy subject to breech, but Caroline just prayed he wouldnât judge her on her supernatural status and rather listened to what she had to say, although she doubted it. The man held open the door for Caro as she walked through, smiling a final thank you as he closed it behind her. Finally her attention turned to Sebastian sat behind the desk, taking the seat opposite him, from the moment she had stepped in the room she could almost smell the authority which likened somewhat to Axel, however this man was not her kin and she could sense that immediately, one wrong move and it could spell a bullet in her heart.
