Baldr - City Limits
Empyrean couldn't believe what her eyes as she read the patch notes. They were much easier to understand than she thought they would be. She had a bit of a laugh at the thought that now she was wishing it was more difficult to shield her from their meaning. She reread the short note from the admin. She couldn't help, but feel anger bubble as she saw he reduced her life to a matter of 5 inconsequential lines.
She stood quickly, attempting to hold back her anger. Breathing deeply, she started to pace the small, comfortable room. How dare this man play with their lives?! How could he play with so many lives as if he owned them?! Her anger settled in the pit of her stomach, it lowered from a fire to smoldering coals. Soon though, the feeling was overtaken by a deep sadness. If she was stuck here, would she ever see her family again? She was the least likely to survive in her family, but she was glad that none of them were stuck in the game in her place.

Empyrean remembered where she was and snapped her attention back to the room she was in. She smiled uneasily at Zeta with a slight twinge of pink to her cheeks. She had completely forgotten that he was even in the room, though it was his room. "Damn," she thought to herself, "I'll have to find my own place to live now, I suppose." Before, Empyrean had seen no need to purchase a home in the game. She appreciated that a lot of gamers enjoyed them, but she wasn't into the game far enough to get the point. A dry laugh escaped her lips as the thought crossed her mind that she was in far enough now.
Returning to the bed, she tried to manage a small smile to hide her anger and fear. "Well, I suppose you're better off than me at this point. What would you suggest I do?" Now more than ever, Empyrean needed to rely on Zeta as her friend and mentor to gaming. While she had been playing for a month now, she still had much to learn in the ways of surviving. Especially since they were "playing for keeps" as Zeta had said.

With renewed hope in her abilities and a direction in which to begin her journey, Empyrean stood from the bed. Determined to earn enough gold to find a place of her own, she swung open the door with much gusto and nearly toppled into a dwarven girl that was standing in the hallway. She caught herself on the door frame and exclaimed, "OH!" For the second time that night, her cheeks gained a red hue and burned from embarrassment.
"I'm sorry," she absentmindedly rubbed the back of her head as she apologized, "I didn't know anyone was out here."
She heard Zeta approach her from behind and attempted to move out of his way.
