Kara Nash, the brave and daring girl of the whole village, sat on the wall that separated her from the outside world she so badly wanted to pass through. The outside world was the goal of her lifetime and she wanted to start accomplishing it as soon as possible. The only problem was that people, like her parents, didn't want her to leave.
Outside was dangerous, full of traps, mysteries, and lies, but to Kara, it was going to be a place of adventure, uniqueness, and wonder. She wanted to see all that she could as soon as possible.
The purple haired girl reached her hand out where it went over the invisible barrier between Bregar and the outside world, "So close..." She murmured to herself, lowering her hand slowly, "Yet so far away..." Kara sighed and only continued to look at the dark forest that was waiting for her.
"Kara, get down from the wall!" One of the younger children called out. He was short, tiny, and hardly older than 10, but had the personality of a bull, "I'm going to go tell your parents and you're going to get into a lot of trouble! You know we're not allowed to look over the walls!" He shouted up to her.
Kara looked down at him and ran her fair hand through her silky hair and responded maturely, "Feel free to." She smiled, though she seemed to have been mocking the child she knew to tattle on her, "It won't matter much. Today is the day when a certain few people will get to travel outside these walls..." She looked outside, a twinkle of excitement in her eyes, "I'm certain I'll be one of them." She said confidentially.
"Whatever, crazy old lady!" The child yelled to her, sticking his tongue out and running away, laughing. Kara rolled her eyes as he stomped away, but with a hint of a genuine smile on her face.
In the end, just as the child had told her, Kara leapt down from the wall, quickly, yet gracefully, almost reflecting her own personality as she did so. When she reached the ground with a perfect landing, she stretched her arms and looked up at the sky to see a flock of birds pass over the wall, "I'll be out there soon." She told herself again, "Hopefully..."
Kara couldn't tell the future, but she had a feeling she'd be one of the chosen ones to go outside the wall. She wanted to go. She wanted to leave her home to go adventure. If she wasn't picked, what would happen? She'd live a boring and dull life within the walls of Bregar? If she wasn't picked, she'd make sure she'd escape to the forest the night of, but all Kara could hope for was her name being called when the time would come for selection, "I need to find that certain place anyways." She said and began to casually stroll through her home village, also hoping that no one had seen her take a peek over the walls. Though, even if anyone did, it wouldn't be a surprise. Nearly everyone knew how much she, especially, wanted to leave the place.
