Daciana's nudge was comforting, and he followed her confidently. She reminded him of his mother quite a bit. As they navigated to the stream a soft dusting of snow covered the ground, which eased his aching paws. Daciana left big paw prints behind her, and occasionally he would hop from print to print, pretending he was a big wolf too. It was pleasant having a moment of innocence back. When she looked back at him he gave her a big goofy grin, with his tongue hanging out of his mouth on one side. Though he missed his family dearly, he was comforted knowing that these wolves were friends, and willing to help him with his search.
"Here, clean up and I'll get you something to eat."
Okay, he said as he made his way down to the edge of the water, dipping a paw in. It was cold, but nothing he couldn't handle. With a lunge he leaped into the water, splashing and rolling about in the shallow bank. Giggling he stuck his face under water and shook violently, staining it red with the blood of the chicks he had eaten earlier. Not long passed before he was all cleaned up and he saw a strange looking animal. It looked like a mouse, but it was swimming in the water. Crouching he lowered his body into the water like an alligator, leaving only his snout above to breath. As the small mammal passed he pounced, at first missing. Splashing behind it he caught up with the creature with sheer speed, but lacking clearly in grace and form. The mouse hung from his mouth as Daciana returned with her kill.
As she apprached and dropped the rabbit looking animal in front of him he grinned, trotting over to her and dropping the dead mouse at her feet.
I caught something for you too...though it's not as big..." Peering over at the rabbit his stomach started to growl, Do you want to share?
