"To be honest? I'm not looking forward to it. I've got the effective jogging pace of a koala and I've never thrown a punch in my life. I've been punched before plenty but I've never even thought about hurting anyone before. I'm not sure I could."
Oralee could not help herself, and giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. She had heard about koalas, but never seen one; Martin using the comparison seemed weird for her, and cheerful in a greater sense. She had to agree, though; she had taken more than her fair share of hits, and given out only a few. I guess that still means I have more experience than him..
"I actually didn't want to challenge the teacher in the first place. I just happened to have my hand up at the wrong time
as usual."
She frowned. He had challenged the teacher? "Wha-"
"Hey, that guy over there just fell off the roof."
Oralee spun on the the ball of her foot, to be facing the rooftop of the school. Indeed, there was someone falling; Akiari chirped quietly. Unconsciously, the snowflakes started to glimmer around Oralee. "Gods... Is there anything we can do? We have to try, we have to do something!" She looked to Martin, frowning. "Maybe the teacher won't notice, if we go over there... I don't know about you, but I'm at least going to try."
"Oralee, you are certain to find yourself at home when a...'field trip' comes around."
"Akiari, shut up!" she hissed. "It's one of my few chances to do something right. I want to try, please..."
