βI have something for you, Ariel!β Ariel looked up, having zoned out as she was trying to think of who this Eric person was. The prince was walking back toward her now with something shiny and pointed in his paws. Her hues flicked between his furry face and the object in his paws. "A thingamadu. Thank you!" She chirped, taking the blade gingerly from him. "It's in very good condition, too," she noted, flipping it over in her hands. "I've never seen one that wasn't--" she trailed off as the image of the thingamadu flashed into her mind. She had seen a this object before, and it wasn't called 'thingamadu'. "This is a dagger," she stated, though to herself or the prince is unclear. "Thank you," she said again, more meekly this time as she regarded the blade with new weariness. This was meant to hurt things. The weight of the small blade suddenly felt much heavier in her hands.
The blonde has been talking to the archer, and when Ariel comes back into their conversation she is slightly confused- for a white, fluffy animal in some sort of fancy clothes dashes in front of her and vanishes into a bush. Ariel looks to the girl, but the blonde seems just as confused as she. Birds flutter into the sky in the distance, but Ariel doesn't notice anyone else thinking anything of it. Figuring this is a human thing, she tries her best to focus on the conversation and curb her curiosity.
"Well, I don't know what that was about...Odd... Anyway, let's see..." Alice fumbles with what Ariel is to assume a map and compass and then starts walking. "Let's move, at least heading somewhere and taking our chances is better than heading nowhere at all."
Ariel holds the dagger close to her and trudges off after the blonde. The fact that Alice is younger than her doesn't seem to keep her from allowing her to be the leader of the school. The dagger in her hands feels rough and smells of iron and dirt, but she clings to it regardless. Did she even know how to use it? Would she be able to hurt another living thing? Her head and heart ached. A pit in her stomach whispered for her to just swim home, but she hadn't the slightest idea where home was. As the group walked, Ariel began to sing softly to herself. It was instantly comforting, and she felt her spirits lifting. She sung softly, so as to not alert any more of the wolves or whatever else might be hungry for mermaid.
