Despite the city of New London being clad with crude sights and sounds, such as worn-down pubs and the noises of horny drunkards within them, or the occasional whinny from a horse-drawn carriage as the driver shouted obscenities at people getting in his way on the cobbled road he navigated, it still had a peculiar rustic charm to it. Sure, the air was stale and smelled of booze and numerous one-night stands in this particular part of the city, but among the small clan of children that played amongst the more industrial areas, it still had a feeling of robust youthful innocence.

Currently, the band of ruffians found themselves at the so-called docks, an area where air-ships would settle themselves to refuel and then be off on their way once more. The city itself was suspended several miles in the air, and the 'shore' of the docks, as it were, was a sheer drop off into a sea of clouds and blue. The mechanisms which kept the city afloat could be seen under them, if one were to lean over the edge, and they would appear to be ran by a mysterious force of magic and the whirling gears of what was dubbed the 'Sky Engine'.

At these docks, there lay stationed several cranes, used for transferring cargo from ships to the land and vice versa. Among these cranes stood a particular one, one that towered over the rest. It was at the base of this towering crane that the ruffians spent their time, hidden from the workers and guards alike. There lay a small boxed mechanism at the feet of two particular members of this group, a mechanism of one of the two's own design.

He called it a 'clay pigeon' shooter, when in reality it didn't shoot clay pigeons at all, but clay disc like objects that soared through the air in a mix of horizontal and vertical arcs. In the hands of the one who had invented it also lay a rifle, which was used to shoot the 'clay pigeons' out of the air. The boy, named Leo and henceforth will be referenced as such, quickly climbed the tower and leaned to the side of it to check for any guards on the other side of the giant fence that separated them from the rest of the town. He gave a signal to the one who had originally been standing with him, Christian, a life-long friend, and then began his descent back down.

Christian, at this point, gave an affirmative nod and waited for his friend Leo to be grounded again before turning his attention to the mechanism at their feet and giving it a solid kick. The machine placated to its received abuse and made a whirring noise before shooting out one of the clay pigeons, which Leo promptly took aim at and shot out of the sky. The smug smile on his face only humored Christian, who returned the enthusiasm with a grin of his own.

Leo always had been the one for theatrics, seemingly to do everything he did with flourish. Not that it didn't impress Christian, but it had deterred to the point where he was used to it by now. After his grin faded, he shook his head slightly before reaching out for the rifle. "You always were quite the show off. Mind if I try before we get ourselves caught?"
