The shadows had gone unnoticed by Lark, which explained why he was caught off guard when he suddenly felt some invisible force latch onto his neck and pin him to the ground.

He was tempted to try and fight back, but something inside of him seemed to have given up, and instead he just let the back of his head rest against the ground. The pressure on his neck wasn't crushing, it seemed more like it was meant to just keep him there as opposed to choking him.

He took a deep breath through his nose and looked up at the sky that was getting darker now. The stars were beginning to peek through, there weren't alot, just a handful. The lights of the city hid the majority of them, and he found himself longing for the another night in the forest.

He began to chuckle dryly, and soon he was practically laughing. He closed his eyes as something died inside his chest and continued to snicker for a few moments more.

"After everything you want help?" He had to stop himself from laughing some more. "You want my help. Oh that's just perfect."
