She hadn't gotten as close as he did, but she could smell a whiff of what he did. "Erm, well whatever was available at the gas stations, to be honest. Some pumps didn't work, and some did. Really couldn't be picky about octanes, you know," she said in a neutral voice, trying to sound like she knew something about the bus, when in reality the first hours of her driving it were pretty terrifying.
