"Why bother trying to find it? I have two guitars, a piano and a bass. I could always play you some live music...On the condition that you sing.

“Well you know you don’t have to twist my arm, you know I like to sing. Especially when we’re together.” Vivi replied blithely before realizing the implication of her words and backtracking a bit. “I mean, when we’re performing together.” The purple haired girl finished sheepishly as they exited the school building into the light of day.

Vivienne was actually quite proud of her singing talent, it was what she was good at. There had been times when that was all that had gotten her through and she took great joy in it. So it would come as no surprise to Jake that Vivi would immediately seize upon his offer. This would also give her the chance to brush up on her piano skills. While she was fair to middling, she in no way rivaled Jake’s ability.

Then, afterwards, we could grab some pizza and insist to everyone that asks that we're not actually on a date. Or say nothing and just piss ourselves laughing. So, my house it is then? Access to a grand piano, an acoustic and electric guitar and a bass

“You’d be so lucky” Vivi teased back, rolling her eyes at her best friend as a flood of departing students streamed past them. It wouldn’t be the first time that people assumed Jake and Vivienne were an item which they’d always been quick to deny. Vivi felt for the first time that she’d might not answer so quick.

“I like your style, Kid.” Vivi continued dramatically bestowing upon Jake a brilliant smile.“Lead the way and if you’re nice I’ll sing for you and let you buy me pizza.”

The fallen angel now known as Jack shifted restlessly in the chair behind his neat desk. It had been a day full of squalling, snotty children and it had taken everything in his power not to swallow them up with darkness and let the demons feed on their bones. He regretted the day that he saw the advertisement for a pediatrician but it had served a great opportunity to immerse himself in this nothing of a town.

If it was up to Jack he would have obliterated this depressing hole but discretion was the better part of valor someone said once. Instead he’d have to ingratiate himself to these people, gain their trust and find the hidden angels. It shouldn’t be too terribly difficult to smite a few teenagers but Jack had been around long enough to never take anything for granted.

So instead he was stuck here with his fellow fallen angels posing as a family. The thought of actually having a wife or caring for an orphaned nephew was laughable. Jack had actually been born into a fairly large family and had hated every second of it. With a grimace at his plight he pushed back from his desk and left his tiny office, not bothering to lock it. The fool who dared to trespass into inner sanctum would be in for quite a surprise.

As the fallen angel emerged from his office the change in his personality and physicality was palpable. Instead of a dark scowl on his face it was now lit by an award winning smile, and now he didn’t seem so tense as if he was ready to pounce upon anything that moved. Now Jack had a bit of a bounce in his step and jauntily waved at the receptionist as he walked outside.

Walking over to the café that was only a few blocks from his office he applauded his choice when he caught sight of the other occupants. Daniel and another angel, his sycophant most likely. While Jack was here to destroy the younger angels he wasn’t above some collateral damage. Of course now wasn’t nearly the right time, but it wouldn’t hurt to show his face. Jack like the idea of the angels knowing of his presence, living their days in dreadful anticipation.

Hopping lightly onto a stool, he smiled indulgently. “Coffee. Black. And a menu. I’m positively famished.”
