It was the squawking of an army of birds that first roused Skye. She had been half asleep on the sand, her mind drifting between day dreams when the screeching began. At first she thought it was that one seagull returning to frustrate her, but the chorus of birds indicated a much larger number. Skye's eyes opened to see a large number of birds flying down the beach towards the water. No, not the water. Skye's eyes locked on a pair of familiar faces, May and Summer. Hadn't she heard that Summer could control animals when around his sister? As her eyes darted from the birds surrounding the twins to the Summer faerie, she could well believe it.

The birds took to the air again. Even before they had, Skye had known that they would be targeting. She watched with a bemused smile as the army of seagulls turned in the air and headed straight for her. An unnatural line formed behind the seagull that had been perched on Summer's arm, even more reason to suspect their foul play. Well, two could play at this game. Summer might have been able to control animals while around his sister, but Skye could do so just fine on her own. Pushing herself into a sitting position Skye thrust her mind towards the birds. She instantly understood what Summer had asked them to do. With an angry shove of thoughts, the birds, rather than releasing their bowels on Skye, let loose just short. A waterfall of bird shit fell from the small army of seagulls, painting the sand in a green and white mosaic. With a huff of distaste one dropping spattered slightly too close to Skye, resulting in some of the mess sprinkling onto her arm. She gave her hand a violent shake, throwing the shit off before it could stick.

Having mainly safely avoided being covered in bird faeces, Skye cast her eyes down the beach to the escaping backs of the twins. With another thrust of her powers she sent the seagulls back to their nests, she wouldn't be needing them for what she had planned for the twins. It only took one second for her to create and cast the illusion. She didn't even have to be particularly close to the twins for it to work. In front of the running pair, appeared a fully formed, perfect replica of herself. Skye's illusions were far superior to other faeries' illusions. She could fool not just a person's sight, but their other senses as well. If one of the twins reached out and touched the illusion-Skye, they would appear to feel a real person. Not that she planned on letting them touch her. "Oh dear, your little trick appears to have failed." Illusion-Skye said in a perfect imitation of Skye's own voice. "Perhaps I will show you how a prank is supposed to work." The illusion added. At the end of her words a wall appeared around the twins, towering over their heads. Of course, the other residents enjoying the beach couldn't see the wall. It would only be too perfect if the twins made a fool of themselves while trying to escape, but Skye wasn't willing to set her hopes on that. She let the Skye-illusion vanish and instead made the walls surrounding the twins solidify. Yes, they were still illusions, but given that she could manipulate all the senses, they would appear very real to the twins.

Noah had only just pulled himself onto his board, his legs hanging either side of the board in the water, when a friendly face appeared. He probably should have assumed that the Selkie would be out hitting the waves in weather like this. He returned her grin with a nod of his head and a small smile. "One of these days, you're just going to paddle around in a circle or something with that one hand deal." She commented. Noah frowned slightly, before realising that she was referring to his method of swimming. He shrugged, the smile returning to his face,
"To each their own." He replied. In truth he would paddle with both hands when he was in deeper water, but before actually jumping onto his board he preferred the one handed approach. It probably would have been easier to simply get on his board from the start but, well, he hadn't.

With the flash of a smile Mel seemed to indicate to Noah the approach of a good wave. Noah trusted the Selkie's instincts when it came to the water, really who wouldn't? He mirrored her moves, laying down on his board and beginning to paddle with both hands. Soon enough he felt the coming wave beginning to drag him back and lift him up. Another smile erupted on his face as he pushed himself onto his knees and then, in one fluid motion, onto his feet. Making sure to keep his distance from Mel, Noah steered his board across the wave. With the flick of a foot and the twist of his body he turned the board around, riding momentarily back up the wave.

Happy is not something that people often associate with Noah Talon. The demon rarely smiles, but at that moment, with a surf board beneath his feet and the sun beating down on his back, Noah couldn't have been happier. Seeing an opportunity for further fun, Noah took it. Bending down so that his hand was trailing just above the water, Noah pushed his board to the tip of the wave and then beyond, attempting to get some air as he hit the crest. Although he was going fast enough, as his board left the wave's surface, he realised that he had miscalculated. He tried to adjust himself, but he was already mid air now and ended up over-adjusting. With a startled cry Noah and his board hit the water at the wrong angle. A mouthful of water was his reward, not to mention being spun around like a sock in a drying machine.

Eventually he was able to push his way to the surface and grab hold of his board. Wiping sea water out of his eyes and pushing his hair back, Noah couldn't help but crack a smile. As frustrating as it was crashing, Noah couldn't say that he was particularly disheartened or angry. As he pushed himself back onto his board he glanced back out to sea, already scanning the waters for another wave to try again on. He cast a quick look back over his shoulder, hoping that Mel would return. The Selkie was rather good at predicting which waves would be good or not, and, surprisingly, he found that he actually enjoyed her company.
