He would have to be careful today. In a few hours he would turn twenty years old. It made him only slightly nervous as he fiddled with the computer in front of him. Glancing over to the clock in his room he noted that in three hours he would have to go to school, and an hour after that the cycle would end. His gaze narrowed as he turned back to the computer screen and pounded on the keys of the keyboard.

Soran was in the middle of reworking a program he'd made many years ago. It wasn't that it really needed any additional work to it, he'd finished it long before, but that it was something to do to keep his mind from wandering too far and scaring himself. It didn't help that the day before an encounter with both his brother and his father had made him on edge. His elder brother was angry that Soran was going to turn twenty and most likely take the position as the Seer in the family. His father was angry because he didn't think that Soran could handle being a Seer due to his 'rebellious' attitude.

The bright blue eyed boy scoffed at the thought.

Whatever. They both can go and rot for all I care, he thought to himself briefly before shaking his head a bit and continuing on with his tedious program. He was so engrossed in the work that when his alarm clock went off, he jumped a good several inches in his chair and fell off of it entirely. The loud crash that ensued was sure to wake the family, but Soran didn't really care. Rubbing at the back of his head he glowered up at the annoying buzzing machine.

"Damnit.. just when I was getting to have a new idea too," he grumbled before throwing something at the clock, essentially knocking it off the desk and smashing to the floor. The young boy felt a little bit better with that and stood up. Stretching his lithe frame, he yawned. For staying up all night, he was still very much awake. Soran supposed that was a good thing, after all he was going to have to pay attention at school, even more so to his surroundings.

After taking a shower, he dressed and with a swipe of his right hand next to his body, a blank screen popped up with some folders along the top of it. Opening a folder, he tapped a strange looking symbol and the magic system opened up the basic form of the spell for him on the blank screen. His fingers danced around the near invisible looking screen before he swiped his whole hand across it, dragging the spell off the platform. Golden light flooded the floor at his feet, expanding in a large circle that was enough to engulf his body.

The light exploded upwards, causing his hair and clothes to fly upwards with the strength of the spell. He closed his eyes as his long coat flapped upwards around his face, dragging his shirt with it. It only lasted a moment before it faded away. Though he couldn't see it anymore, he could just barely feel the magic that clung to his skin. It was the protective spell that would help to keep him from being possessed. Soran had been doing this spell for years. Even so, he knew that today was the one day out of the other 365 days that he could not fend off a possession. It was going to happen whether he wanted it to or not. Still, the effect of the spell settled him just a bit more than having nothing at all.

As he left the house, the families protector came with him, following behind him like a shadow. Soran frowned as he left the house and headed to the school. He didn't like having a follower that was ordered to do it. Sighing a bit, he tried to ignore that black clad man as he entered the school that bustled with all types of students. All thoughts of his family left him as he set eyes upon two of his closest friends. Waving to them, he joined up with them as they headed to their class. Everything was all laughs now, just the way he liked it.

~~

The bell rang as the class ended and the students were released from their confines in the small classrooms. Soran was beginning to feel edgy. The hour had passed and nothing had happened yet. Even his two best friends were having a hard time getting him to focus on their conversation. It wasn't until he started hearing the whispers around him, some of the students had recognized his last name when he was called during roll.

"He's a Seer... you better be careful around him," a girls soft voice whispered to her group of friends.

"Ugh, a Seer. What's he doing here? I hear the Reigailia family is famous for breeding such devils. Why can't they just leave us all alone, they bring so much chaos."

"I'll feel terrible for the one who happens to get in his way when things go to hell. You know they can't ever control themselves. Such monsters," a boys voice said, his words a bit louder than the others and several gasps filled the hallway. Soran shook, his fingers closing into fists.

Have to be careful... I can't let them get to me, he thought to himself desperately. The whispers continued though as they moved down the hall. Soran was about to snap, he could feel his anger rising to it's boiling point. Finally unable to take anymore he whirled around, one of his friends grabbing his arm to stop him. However, he didn't do anything. He stopped midway as his gaze settled on something right in front of him. The form of a God had materialized in the middle of the hallway and no one else saw him except Soran.

The God's gaze was a dark gold as he slowly spread his lips into a grin. He was taken by surprise, his heart elevating to a pounding race. The protective spell around him shuddered as the God reached out and touched him. The fingers curled around his throat, slinking to the back of his neck as the God sidled up to him. His two friends shook him, trying to gain his attention, but his eyes were locked on the golden depths of the War God before him.

"Hello, little Seer. Aren't you lucky," the God whispered to him, "To have such a powerful God take an interest in you. I'm Yakosa, a War God, and you're going to be my vessel."

"No..." his voice shook with a bit of fear as he glanced down to his right side and attempted to open up the magic system to fight back. There was no way in hell he was going to just sit and let a God take over his body. Yakosa laughed, a rich vibrant sound that echoed in his ears.

"It's a little late to be thinking about that."

The Gods arms wrapped around him in a tight embrace and his spell shattered like flimsy glass. He could feel the presence of something much more powerful than himself sinking down into his skin. It was such an unpleasant feeling, almost like he was choking on water, drowning. Every inch of his frame was taunt, shuddering violently as the God overtook him so easily. For the first time in a very long time, Soran felt genuine fear. Screams filled the hall as many of the students only watched as his body convulsed before dropping to the floor on his hands and knees.

Both of his friends dropped down next to him, fear in their voices as they called his name, shouting out if he was alright and what was wrong. He could only shake his head as he was locked in a losing battle of wills. The God's laughing voice still rang in his ears. Soon the only words that Soran could think to shout out were almost lost as he was engulfed in Yakosa's power.

"Run... get away!" he screamed at the boys before he was overtaken. From his minds eye, it was like he watched everything from under water. The surface was above him and everything was a ripple. He screamed in his mind as Yakosa reached out to both of his friends and killed them. Magic erupted down the hallway, decimating almost everything. Covering his ears, he curled in on his mental image. He hoped that someone would stop him soon, or Yakosa was going to destroy everything while using his body.

Kilia was on the grass in a park with very little people. Stretched out across the green expanse, she stared up at the blue sky. There was no class for her today and so she'd decided to go to the park. It was the end of her twenty year cycle and so she had thought it best to keep away from too many people. Not that it would matter really. Once a God got a hold of her, she would be done for and there was nothing to stop a God possessed Seer from going all over a city and destroying it within a few hours.

She supposed it might have been better to be where more people where that way her chances of having a Guardian stop her was much higher. Still, she couldn't bring herself to do so, even against her Mother's wishes. Fighting just wasn't her thing and she wasn't about to put other people in danger. If her mother knew she'd gone off to the park, she would be in for a lecture. It was bad enough that Kilia's mother thought that her daughter was weak and naive. This would be cause to call Kilia a coward. Even so, Kilia had always thought that the Seers were supposed to be there to protect people, not put them in danger.

There were still two sides to that argument though. If she were possessed in a large crowd, one of them could be her Guardian and stop her without delay and very little damage. If she were possessed where there was no one around, the chances of having a Guardian find her was down to nill and there was the very real possibility that the God or Goddess controlling her would gain a solid hold on Kilia's body, thus making it impossible for any Guardian to free her.

With those in mind, Kilia had chosen to go to the park. There were people, but not many people. Maybe she could avoid hurting people all together and one of them would be her Guardian. Her lips frowned as she scanned the area. She was far enough away from everyone to watch them without looking like a creeper or anything. Slowly sitting up, Kilia dragged her hand through her long hair. Swiping her hand next to her right side, she pulled up the magic system. She'd long since put her protection spell over her body, but it was a weak spell at best.

With thoughts of reactivating the spell, she felt arms wrap around her shoulder and a girlish voice in her ear. Kilia startled. Completely taken by surprise, she turned under the tight grip to see who held her in the tight embrace. A beautiful woman with black hair and golden eyes gazed at her, a wicked smile on the woman's lips. Immediately, Kilia knew it to be a Goddess that gazed at her. Her heart did a flip in her chest before flying up to the back of her throat. Breathing became difficult as she froze.

"I've been looking forward to this. It's been so long since the next bought of Seer's has come. I'll finally be able to gain the power I need to challenge the higher Gods," leaning forward even more, the Goddess whispered into her ear, "I'll be gentle," then laughed.

Kilia's heart lurched and she tried to scream out for help, but nothing happened, no sound came from her lips as she crumpled to the ground. She shook slightly, trembling as the lesser Goddess took over her body. It was rather quick, Kilia's entire world turned into that of an underwater show. Taking a backseat in her own body was a terrifying feeling and to the young Seer was at a complete loss on what to think or do. Nothing prepares you for this... she thought frantically, her eyes wide as she watched her body stand up against her will. The magic system opened up to the Goddess' will as she walked down the grassy slope to the group of people not to far away.

It wasn't until the Goddess' first victim, a young boy of maybe only ten years of age, was killed that Kilia started screaming and trying to regain her own body. It was all in vain, though. Instead, all she could do was watch as the Goddess started wielding her magic to destroy everything before her, taking the lives of many people as she went. Kilia cried as she screamed Help! Someone.. anyone...
