I can't speak for your friends, but it's still my duty to protect the innocent." Parker stood a bit taller, trying to keep her authoritative military tone back into place. Without even casting a sideways glance, PJ tried to busy herself with keeping alert to anything that could be out of place. "It's my job to protect people like y-you. There are bad people out there who want to take advantage of the uh... c-current situation society has found itself in. And... And I need to protect people from them." So Parker had never really been the one to comfort people or try to communicate with them, but now that she didn't have anyone else to do that for her, PJ fumbled through her speech as best she could. And of course, her neck and ears had tinted red by the end. This is why she was a doer, not a talker. As they continued to walk, Parker did her best not to nervously scratch the back of her neck or look at Storm.
