Aren't we doing a lovely job of socializing, today? Artemis thought to herself. She was just making an idiot of herself. Trying to talk to others, unsolicited, was proving what she'd always known: that she had, ultimately, no social skills. She wasn't sure if she should start working on them or if she should just shut up. She turned her head away, trying to escape into thought for a moment, but then, she turned back to the pale-haired boy. Should she say something else? Was she just being paranoid? Was she doing something wrong? Did he just disagree with her?

Did he only communicate in groans? She'd watched as the Witch of the Plains of the Dead raised corpses, as they'd spoken in a wailing tongue that only their master could understand. Was he one of the undead?

Deciding not to ask, Artemis continued as though she hadn't stopped talking in the first place. "I mean, think of all the odd places a school like this's bound to have. Old passageways. The like. This is boring. They're practically retracing the brochure," she added. She'd given up on trying not to be creepy and pathetic.
