Having wondered off from the rest of the group, Rethyn found himself alone with a quite open looking room. Through the darkness, Rethyn keenly noticed an object he remembered clearly in life. With little sound to each of his steps he approached the dusty looking microphone upon it's stand. With a small smile to himself he begun to use his shirt's sleeve to brush off the dust.

A flood of memories rushed into him as he stared at the microphone. He found himself remembering his tenth birthday. Chuckling quietly to himself he remembered how embarrassed he was when his aunts had begun to sing for him in a karaoke style. Looking back now he felt a little guilt. He had never got to tell him how much they meant to him, he never got to tell how much they all meant to him.

Closing his eyes for a moment, Rethyn inhaled slowly as he let the memories linger on for a while longer in his mind. After a long while he opened his almost glowing sky blue eyes as he begun to follow along the wire of the microphone to see if it was still plugged in.

Rethyn had found the end of the wire and plug he heard the audio flicker as the microphone awoke. Smiling to himself he looked around to make sure for a moment nobody was within the room. Casually walking over to the microphone he hummed into it for a moment as he tested it. After a few hums the microphone seemed good to go.

Stepping in close Rethyn begun to sing the words softly.

"If you really put your faith in me
When you're lost, here I am
"forever" with your soul
Waiting here above you patiently,
Just like the shining moon.."

Rethyn then stopped as he glanced towards the entrance of the room. He could of sworn he heard someone. With the feeling paranoia eating at him, he reached for the switched and flicked the microphone off before stepping off. Waiting quietly in the darkness he paused as he wanted to see if someone had indeed been spying on him.

Nobody came. With a sigh Rethyn returned to the microphone and begun thinking of other songs he could preform to the audience of none. Stepping up to the microphone, Rethyn placed both hands at the side as he begun again. However, as he did so he didn't find the second song as powerful as the first. With a little frustration he tried again and again. He did not want to keep preforming sad tunes as he kept trying, however much to his own frustration those were the ones he seemed to remember.

After what felt like an hour Rethyn gave up. The only songs of which came to him were sad. With the thought of his next song he stretched out his neck before continuing again. Yet another sad tune passed through his lips as he felt sad in not remembering something of which would bring him joy.

"This was the world we knew
Forsaken as we grew
Truth lead to loneliness I couldn't bear

Shadows once cast by you...
Dreams that were dear to you...
Chasing what wasn't there..."

Rethyn's voice echo'd throughout the room as his song continued. Within he didn't even really know where the words came from, but he kept with them as he tried further to sing them. They just seemed to sound right as the tune carried throughout the room and beyond as Rethyn grew more confident in his ability. He had forgotten in the moment how far sound could travel when carried right.

A slow clap emerged from the shadows as a pair of yellow eyes could be seen through the darkness. As the man walked forward his step was slow and casual. Wrapped around his suit he had a metal chain of which he was twirling in his right hand. Unlike Rethyn's step from before his echo'd through the room with a chill.

At the notice of Rethyn's frozen status, the man gave a toothed smile. "Why did you stop? Rethyn."

Rethyn in response flicked the switch of the microphone. The fear of Death ate at him again as he stared at him. However, this time the shock wasn't as potent as he spoke weakly to the man. "Why are you here? This isn't your realm."

"Neither is it yours Rethyn."

Stepping back and away from the microphone to avoid Death, the trembling Rethyn felt confusion as he saw the god reach for the microphone and flick it on. "Shall I start?" He said Rethyn in a soothing voice. It was unsettling to the Guardian as he clearly knew it was feigned.

Rethyn didn't respond as he slid back further away. The door wasn't far away, a part of him knew he could escape by merely teleporting. However, at the same time he couldn't he felt drawn in and trapped. The feeling of being without his mask seemed to return as he felt like he was choking and struggling to breath when he knew he could.

"I'll take that as your version of a yes." Death whispered with a grin into the microphone.

"This is a special song for a young girl out there." Death said glancing over at Rethyn. "She will soon be mine, and her name is Kaza-

"NO!" Rethyn roared as he saw red. Reaching deep into the pocket of his dress pants he found his knife. Ripping it out, he flashed forward and begun swinging madly at Death. As he did so it felt like lights were flickering with each swing. It was like a powerful strobe light as Death would always be just outside his swing.

With a powerful lung, Rethyn armed to bring Death to the ground by ramming his shoulder into mid tackle. Finding himself successful in his attack, he was straddled over Death as he twirled his knife in his right hand to face it downwards before throwing his finishing blow. "Damn you!" Rethyn roared as the knife traveled to the eye of Death.

With yet one last flicker it was over. Rethyn looked down to only see his knife sunk through carpet. Dropping his head back he wasn't over his foe at all as he vanished as quickly as he came. Writhing in the room alone, Rethyn curled his hands into fists as he yelled angrily to himself.

Jumping a little, Rethyn heard a familiar tune play throughout the room. The voice he then heard was niether his nor Death's as the words "Hey now, remember that it's all in your head!" carried throughout the room.

"You're lying." Rethyn hissed to the microphone. "I will not break."

Quietly rising to his feet Rethyn pulled the blade from the softness of the carpet as he made his way to the exit of the room. He spoke little to those he passed in the halls as he made his way back to his room.
