The fact that he was so close made me fearful for him. After all, the culprit could still be around. There wasn't really much I could do to get rid of him at this point besides getting him to go away by him own volition.

"I don't need a hospital," I said, knowing it'd be best for him not to be around too long and for me not to be in a place that asked too much information about me due to the fact that I didn't want to risk being caught. I attempted to push him away, only to fail because I was using one of my hands to keep pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding.

This wasn't the first time I'd been attacked in such a way either. This left me a couple of scars that weren't doing me much of a favor with a job that required skin to be exposed, but it had taught me how to dress the wound. It wasn't too bad.

Finally, being able to break free by elbowing him in the side, I turned away. "You....stop following me. I'm not the type you want to associate with. You're putting your life on the line by being anywhere near me. What just happened...it could happen to you too."

I shifted a little, feeling searing pain as I twisted too far to ensure he'd hear me. Even if the wound wasn't too bad, I knew I needed stitches. There was no way this would heal without them. Some painkillers really sounded good at the moment, but I suppressed that thought as I remembered that I was attempting to leave.

"Damn it," I hissed as I tripped. It didn't seem like luck was on my side that night.
