Silence fell upon the kitchen when Stephanie left, the obvious irritation Lucas sensed from her distracting the female Alpha long enough to not note that two other werewolves were in the vicinity. A few beats later, two sets of ears listened closely as the Alpha made her way into the living room area. The female sighed and turned bright blue eyes to Lucas.

"I think she's gone," Avery stated, relieved. "For now, at least." Even she knew that eventually, the kitchen would be taken over at some point and when that happened, she only hoped a brawl would not break out. Lucas raised an inquisitive eyebrow at his cousin's antics.

"Since when do you hide from anyone?" He inquired, shoulders squared as he instinctively prepared himself to step into Stephanie's face if she ever intimidated his cousin. A cautious Avery meant something and Lucas didn't do well with anyone intimidating her. As sweet as she was, Avery wasn't one to back down from anyone or be frightened by their presence. Her reluctance when they first descended the stairs this morning - how she got him up in the morning, he will never know - was puzzling. And sad for him, Avery was one of the few people who could manage to throw his readings off.

"I'm not hiding," the fiery haired werewolf said quickly as they finally stepped into the kitchen. An impressive kitchen, it was. Avery never paid attention to kitchen appliances and would not be able to tell you how much more effective one item was over another, but even she could tell that money went into this kitchen. Her hands actually trembled with want to touch every appliance she saw; she could see herself having a lot of fun in this kitchen. She turned to her a cousin a sweet yet knowing smile. "I just know how you are when you don't have coffee and food. The last thing we need is another fight." Avery eyed Luke's latest injury as if to prove a point.

The last two days had been pretty hectic. The entire time that the elders of the two packs discussed the unity of the rivals, both of the Alphas argued valiantly and passionately. Avery sat very quietly even as a heated Luke interjected and even called the female Alpha out. That only led to one of the other members of the Foalan pack punching him and then, well, no one needed to spell out how violent it grew. Then, when their pleas for understanding fell on deaf ears and the two packs merged within the confines of this mansion, more hell broke loose.

And the Alphas themselves could barely do much to reign in their members. All Avery could do was watch. Yes, she might have had to break a few fights up and sure, when one Foalan member attacked Luke, she might have tore into them enough that the sweet girl image she tried to produce for the sake of peace became distorted. But she still could not find it in herself to be angry with the elders' decision. This feud had lasted long enough and truthfully, Avery was all for a little unity. They had bigger problems and the two packs constantly at odds left everyone suspicious of everyone and a suffocating atmosphere filled with unnecessary tension. Besides, it wasn't like any of the elders even knew why the two packs were at odds, so the rivalry was rather childish.

"What the hell?" Avery growled and rolled her eyes as she surveyed the refridgerator. Although she could make out a few choice items that she needed, the fact that fridge was stuffed with meat more than irritated her. An actual fan of vegetables and you know, healthy foods, even she couldn't stand the sight of all that meat and no other item. There was water, soda, juices, and a little milk, but she needed more than that if she expected to feed both packs. She checked the cupboards and saw that there was no fresh bread out either. She glared at Luke slightly. "Great, I gotta go into town real quick. Apparently, we really are animals." Luke chuckled and Avery punched his arm.

"Kinda late to the party, mom," Luke teased and pulled out one of the packs of lunch meat. He tore it open and popped a piece of sliced honey ham into his mouth. Avery wrinkled her nose at his antics before reaching into her pack pocket, knowing that she had a small wad of cash she withdrew from the bank. Surprisingly enough, her mother left her a pretty decent inheritance and she tapped into it occasionally.

"You are gross," Avery commented and turned away, knowing that she would eventually have to face a Foalan anyway. Besides, it was better to communicate with the female Alpha now and show that she meant no harm. Faintly, she wondered if Riley was awake before shaking the thought away. It was too early to be blushing about him. "Stay here. Someone needs to watch the others while Riley is asleep. I won't take long." Out of instinct, Luke grabbed a hold of her slender arm, forcing Avery to meet his eyes and blue pierced blue. Avery smiled. "I know; come straight back. I'll be okay, Dad." She winked at her older cousin and approached the living room area, leaving Luke to watch while she walked away with a pensive expression and a bite of more meat.

Once outside of the living room, Avery ran a hand over her hair to smooth the silky locks, which had been tousled slightly earlier after she got dressed. Nodding to herself that this was fine and that she could take care of herself if the female Alpha wanted to go there, she stepped into the living room, eyes trained on Stephanie even though she noted the presence of the Beta she met two days ago. She smiled at Stephanie, harmless.

"Hey, Stephanie right?" Avery knew exactly who the female was. If you didn't know who the gorgeous Alpha of the Foalan pack was, you obviously are new here or you need to get glasses. "Just letting you know that all I see in that fridge is fuckery and we need more food. Do you need any specific thing before I head out?"
