Gabriel was sitting down and staring at her C-band as she heard her mother discuss at length the importance of the affair she was forced to attend. She never liked meeting new people, never did. At least she learned quickly how to act interested in the conversations the bureaucrats discussed and treat them with all due respect while keeping a fake smile glued to her face at all times. "Oh, and sweetie? I'm really sorry for sending you out to these events so frequently. If there was another way to keep you safe without sending you away from home i would do so." Gabriel gave a small smile at this. She may not be my real mother but she certainly cares like one. "It's alright mom. We've been over this ten times the past week."
"Oh i know but i really do miss you. we haven't had such a sweet child since Joseph was a little boy. Don't know why he became so bitter. Maybe it was that young lady i saw him dating about the time you came around." Gabriel's mother started thinking over the idea when a noise came from off-screen. "Oh dear. Sweetie i got to go now and deal with a few affairs. Promise me you'll stay out of trouble?" Gabriel gave a sad smile as her mother said this "Mom I'm telling you it was his fault for getting grabby. how was i supposed to know he had twelve thugs all across the room?" they both said there goodbyes and Gabriel looked about the room.

It was a rather decent apartment. Not too expensive compared to some of the other places she had stayed. To be honest everything that Gabriel had was worth at least 1000 dollars, if not more. Even her favourite hoodie was expensive. it didn't look like much on the outside but was designed with special type of fabric that changed depending on the temperature. thick and warm when it was cold. light and breezy when it was hot. Apparently this fabric was near impossible to make so the cost it took to be made was astronomical. roughly about 1 million dollars. She rarely went anywhere without it.

"Cerise? can you come here for a minute?" Gabriel waited as she heard rummaging in the adjacent room. A few moments later a very young and smiling woman walked out of it "you called milady?" Gabriel gave an exasperated sigh when she heard that. "Cerise, how many times do i have to tell you to call me by my name?"
"i'm sorry Gabriel but you act so silly when your frustrated" Cerise commented with a giggle. Gabriel subdued the urge to groan and turned to the window. She acts so childish sometimes. Better than the constant formalities when I first met her, I guess. Gabriel kept staring out the window until Cerise finally stopped giggling. "Anyways, why did you call me out here for, Gabriel?" Gabriel's face turned serious as she turned back to Cerise. "I wanted to check to make sure everything was ready for the mayor's ball. I'm hoping to get this over with and be asleep before midnight this time."
"Not to worry, I have everything all set up. Except for the dress of course, but it's hard to find one pleasing enough for most people without you shooting them down on the spot."
Gabriel grimaced at the word dress. she absolutely hated dresses. drew too much attention to her. "Make it pleasing yes, but nothing overly flashy alright? I don't like being stared at like a piece of meat about to be devoured." Cerise giggled at this and assured Gabriel that she will get it done and headed back to the room she entered from.

Gabriel decided to get some fresh air and walked outside on to the balcony. Leaning against the railing she stared across at the skyline that few people in the city were able to see unless you were high up. She liked this view. It was a shame she couldn't see it more often.
